Workshop of Patent Search

A patent is a right granted to an inventor by the federal government that permits the inventor to exclude others from making, selling or using the invention for a period of time. The patent system is designed to encourage inventions that are unique and useful to society.

The workshop was started with the lamp lightening ceremony followed by floral welcome of the guests. A welcome note was given by Dr.Mihir Raval, Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences followed by introductory note presented by Mr. Tejas Sharma, Assistant Professor of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Saurashtra University, Rajkot.  Presidential speech was given at last by Dr.Pratapsinh Chauhan, Hon. Vice-chancellor of Saurashtra University.

The session of workshop was started after the inaugural function by Dr. Amitkumar Patel, Asst. Professor, IPR/Patent Cell, Gujarat Technological University, Registered Indian Patent Agent, Ahmedabad. He presented a very nice and detailed presentation of how to search for the patents. He provided a brief introduction for various paid websites as well as free websites available for the patent search.
