Dr. Kamlesh Joshipura – Vice chancellor of Saurashtra University called for students to show skills in their professions and social life as a whole. He emphasized the role of university development and acclaimed that the students of this university are capable of standing tall in any part of the world. He was speaking at the 44th annual convocation function held here today on campus. Dr. Joshipura’s presidential speech was spirited.

Education minister of the state Mr. Ramanlal Vora was the chief guest of the function. He admired the tremendous progress of the university especially in the last decade under leadership of Vice- chancellor Dr. Joshipura. He appealed the students to be studious and shine out in society. He admired the chief minister often for his dedication to education, zeal and many schemes to expand education with quality. He also gave a brief about the prospective world – class University in the state, 23 engineering and poly-technique colleges. He laid stress on employment opportunities and skill-Oriented courses.

Prof. Ved Prakash, Vice- chairman of University Grant Commission and renowned scholar, said that education is the only mean of human empowerment. He emphasized the immense importance of education and mentioned the three historic resolutions adopted at Geneva in 1940 underlining this. He also told that without quality men-power and educational progress India can’t become super power and appealed the students to aspire for the top slot in chosen field and work hard for success. He laid equal emphasis on honesty, perseverance and tolerance. He appeal leaders, teachers and students to bring university reputation by their conduct and mentioned Dipchand Gardi for this generous donation to this university. He stressed on national conviction, commitment, resources and capacity to deliver.

Mr. Vijay Rupani, Member of Parliament was the guest of honor. He appealed students to serve society in the best possible manner and congratulated them. He laid stress on character – building.

Registrar of university, Mr. Jani had given well-come speech in the beginning and appealed the students to deliver the goods to society.

During the function students from various faculties were given Gold Medal s by the dignitaries, these students had topped their respective faculty. Apurva Dodiya was the most glaring example who had won 9 Gold Medals.

Prof. Dr. Kamal Mehta had given a brief outline of various healthy, innovative and constructive practices initiated by university.

Students of English department had offer a Vedic prayer.

All dignitaries were given the excellent floral wel-come with Khadi handkerchief by syndicate member Mr. Nehal Shukla and others.

In a very well-attend and organized 44th annual convocation function approximately 52,000 students were awarded degree. They were given pledge (Anushashan) by the Vice- chancellor.

The presence of Prof. Ved Prakash was his very first visit to Saurashtra region. Entire staffs of the university, senate and syndicate members, deans of faculties, students and all office-bearers were present. In the end, controller of examination Mr. Mamtora had offered vote of thanks.

The function was ended on high note with the chanting of National Anthem.
